Dental and oral health

Veterans Card, Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card holders may be eligible for dental services provided by the South Australian Dental Service.

If you are house-bound or living in an aged care home, you may be able to get a home visit for dental services . Get a referral from your doctor. If you have false teeth the South Australian Dental Clinic may also be able to help you with dentures and repairs.

The HealthInsite website also has more information on dental health.

To access dental support through the Centre for Disability Health you must be a Disability Services client. Priority for support is given to people in most urgent need. If you are not a Disability Services client see eligibility and referrals.

For more information see Centre for Disability Health information sheet or phone them on 8397 8100.

Getting the most out of Medicare

Medicare covers the full cost of some bulk-billed health services that may be useful for people with a disability, for example:

  • a doctor (GP) can write a GP Management Plan for a person with a chronic medical condition
  • a doctor can coordinate a Team Care Arrangement with other health and care providers.

Talk to your family doctor to find out if you are eligible. Before you agree to any health care, it is important to ask about fees and if your doctor bulk bills.
