Training for volunteers and other adults

To work as a volunteer at an education centre you must take part in a Responding to Abuse and Neglect induction. This can be delivered at the site by the leadership team or you can access it through the South Australian Association of School Parents' Clubs. For more information phone 1800 724 640.

The induction session is based on the Volunteer's handbook (PDF 1MB).

Other roles that require volunteer induction training

You must complete the volunteer induction training if you:

  • are a school-based apprentice employed by the department
  • work as an hourly paid instructor in certain positions – the requirement to undertake the training is decided by the principal or director on an individual basis depending on:
    • the frequency of employment
    • the nature of any contact with children and the level of supervision provided.

For more information talk to the school or kindergarten.
