In the event of an emergency the State Recovery Office works closely with various government and non government organisations to:
- restore essential facilities, services and community networks
- provide information, referral and advice to affected people
- provide immediate practical and material assistance to affected people
- support the recovery of business.
Up to date public information messages and information about service providers are available through the Disaster Assist website.
After a significant event evacuation centres may be established in affected areas to help people and communities recover. Assistance may include:
- food
- accommodation
- financial assistance
- advice and information
- support and referrals to appropriate services.
Members of the public can volunteer during an emergency in South Australia.
