Raising grandchildren and relatives

If you are raising a grandchild or another relative’s child, support is available if you need help and assistance.

General information on raising grandchildren and a Grandparents and Relative Caregivers booklet can be found on this site.

The Grannies Group is a network of Aboriginal grandparents who advocate on behalf of issues affecting their children, grandchildren and their community.

A support group for grandparents and carers in the northern metro region is provided by the Northern Carers Grannies Group. A range of services for grandparents concerned about the welfare of their grandchildren is provided by Grandparents for Grandchildren.
